Field Day Recap

Flash Gallery

What an amazing Field Day the HCARC had this past weekend at Baker Park in New Castle.  The club made over 1,700 contacts for this year’s event which included working 49 of the 50 states and several DX contacts.  The event was well attended as many licensed amateurs from the area took part in both operating and logging during the weekend.  We operated for 21 hours out of the allotted 24 hour period as allowed by the ARRL rules, only stopping for a few hours due to lightning in the area.  Special thanks to the event coordinators, Ben Burris and Andrew Clark , and the team leaders consisting of Gene Ingram, Barry Edstene, and JT Burns for putting on a spectacular event.   We are already looking forward to next year’s event.

Also, a very special thanks to Eric Cox and the Knightstown Banner for the wonderful video slideshow that was produced about our Field Day Event.  Please click the below link to the Banner’s Facebook page to see the video:

W9W Special Event Station

Flash Gallery

On June 18, 2011, the Henry County Amateur Radio Club hosted a special event station in Millville, Indiana for the Wilbur Wright Birthplace Festival. Using the call sign “W9W”, the group made just under 200 contacts around the world including 2 DX contacts. Special thanks to Gene (K9UOK) and Barry (AB9MT) for going out the day before and putting up antennas and to Bill (N9RHY) and Jay (KA9QIG) for organizing the event. It was a great time for all those who participated and a great way to promote ham radio! (wrote by Amber KC9TXY)
