March 24, 2012 – Hidden Transmitter Hunt

The HCARC will be hosting a hidden transmitter hunt this Saturday, March 24th.   Andrew, KC9RVO, will act as the “fox” during the event which begins at 11am.  We will meet in the parking lot behind Bob Evans in New Castle around 10:30 to see how many participants will partake in the hunts.  You do not have to be a licensed amateur to participate as others need help with equipment and navigating.  We hope to see you on Saturday!!

Annual Skywarn Spotter Training – March 31, 2012

On Saturday, March 31st Henry County Skywarn will be hosting the National Weather Service from Indianapolis for the annual Storm Spotter Training Class. The class will be held in the auditorium of the New Castle Henry County Public Library and will begin at 9 am. The class should last about 2 hours. This is a free class that’s open to the general public, storm spotters, and emergency personal. The NWS will talk about what makes thunderstorms severe, show hail charts, what different wind speeds can do, and much more. We will also be giving away NOAA All Hazards Radio(s) in a drawing. New Meeting Day and Time!!

Club meetings will now be quarterly. We will meet at 7 p.m. the fourth Monday in January, April, July and October, at the club station. Ideas are needed for demonstrations at the meetings. Contact Ben Burris for Location Details.
